Our approach encompasses various areas of learning that are interconnected and equally important. Together, they promote holistic child development.
At Apple Tree, we enable our children
To develop a positive sense of themselves and others.
To learn social skills.
To develop self-motivation and a cheerful disposition to learning.
To build and maintain self-confidence, to know themselves and their capabilities.
Communication, Language, and Literacy
We help children learn and communicate competently.
We support them in learning to be a good speaker and listener.
We work on building and maintaining children’s interest in stories, responding to their interest in reading and writing.
Literacy is present in each classroom through books, posters, name tags, and decorations. Our pre-literacy and literacy program in our Pre-K/Kindergarten group prepares our children for the requirements of their school.
We extend vocabulary through project-based discussions, stories, and songs and encourage children to express their thoughts.
Problem Solving, Reasoning, and Numeracy
We support children in developing their problem-solving skills through everyday activities by building on what they already know and extending the problem beyond their knowledge.
We ask children to join in discussions on a daily basis, thus providing them with the opportunity to develop their reasoning skills further.
Numbers are present in our daily lives in a broad range of contexts; children will explore, enjoy, learn, and talk about their growing understanding.
We provide extensive opportunities for children to practice and extend their skills and thus gain confidence and competence.
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
We support children in developing the knowledge, skills, and understanding that help them make sense of the world.
We offer a wide range of activities for them to experience working with various tools and materials.
We aim to offer opportunities to encounter creatures, people, plants, and objects in their natural environments and real-life situations.
We support children in undertaking practical experiments to help them extend their knowledge and develop their thinking.
Physical Development
We encourage indoor and outdoor physical development by supporting children in experiencing an active and healthy lifestyle.
We provide them with a wide range of activities daily to help them improve their posture, strength, muscle tone, balancing skills, stamina, coordination, and control.
We have designed our program to allow children to exercise all their senses in learning about the world and to help them make connections between new information and what they already know.
Children develop an understanding of the importance of physical activity by recognizing the effects it has on our bodies and health.
Creative Development
We aim to extend children’s creativity by providing them with a wide variety of activities and materials to work with, experience, and learn about the similarities and differences of how various materials behave.
We provide opportunities for children to exercise their curiosity, explore and play.
Our approach is interactive, and we foster children’s creative thinking.
We regularly involve them in discussions and provide them with opportunities to explore and express their feelings and ideas.
Feelings, ideas, and opinions can be expressed verbally and through art, music, movement, dance, imagination, and role-play, and mathematics.
