Frequently asked questions

Admission

Spots are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to current Apple Tree families when enrolment opens in February.

If you feel that Apple Tree is the right fit for your family, we recommend filling out our Application Form as early as possible — ideally during the semester before your desired start date. This helps us keep you informed about availability and increases your chance of securing a spot.

Our admission process is continuous throughout the year, and we’re always happy to welcome new families whenever space allows. This means you are more than welcome to join us during the school year. To check current availability, please email us at info@appletree-kindergarten.hu.

We normally offer places for the full academic year (September–June), and the school contribution is set accordingly. However, if you know you’ll need a shorter enrolment period, please email us at info@appletree-kindergarten.hu with your preferred start and end dates. We’ll be happy to provide you with a time-proportionate offer.

We’re so glad you’re considering joining the Apple Tree community!
Here’s how it works:

  1. Fill out our Application Form or email us with any questions.
  2. If a place is available, we’ll send a Confirmation of Application email with your payment details. For every new child enrolling at Apple Tree, an online application form must be completed and submitted to our office. Once the application has been received and confirmed by e-mail, a once-only, non-refundable registration fee of HUF 150,000 becomes payable. Please note that applications are processed only after the registration fee has been received. Enrolment is open throughout the school year, subject to the availability of places. The registration fee does NOT apply to returning children and their newly enrolled siblings if both siblings are enrolled for the same period.
  3. Once your enrolment is confirmed, you’ll receive more information about your child’s group and what to prepare for their first day at Apple Tree. 15 days after a child is offered a place at Apple Tree, 10% of the school contribution needs to be paid (non-refundable, counted toward total school contribution).

We would be delighted to welcome you for a personal tour of Apple Tree! Visiting us in person is a wonderful way to experience our loving and nurturing atmosphere and to see our programs in action.

Our tours usually take place during the morning hours, when you can observe the children’s daily activities and get a real sense of our learning environment. If you would prefer a different time, we’ll do our best to find a slot that suits your schedule.

During the tour, we’ll show you around our classrooms and garden, share details about our educational approach, and happily answer any questions you may have. Tours typically last about one hour.

We would be delighted! Having your child with you helps them explore our atmosphere and classrooms, and it often becomes a lovely first memory that supports their settling-in period later on.

Groups & Learning Environment

Group placement is based primarily on age, but we also consider each child’s development and your family’s schooling plans.

Absolutely! Many of our families have the same question before joining Apple Tree. It’s perfectly fine if your child doesn’t speak English yet — they will naturally pick up the language through daily routines, play, and communication. Our teachers gently guide and encourage each child as they gain confidence and understanding.

Yes, we do. We have a dedicated special needs teacher at Apple Tree who provides extra support for our children. A psychologist also visits regularly to observe our groups and share professional insights with our teachers.

Daily Life at Apple Tree

Each day at Apple Tree is filled with meaningful play, storytelling, exploration, and plenty of time outdoors. Our days are never quite the same — they grow and change depending on children’s ages, interests, and the projects they are exploring, making every day feel like a new adventure.

While we’re happy to share the rhythm of our days, the best way to truly understand our atmosphere is to experience it in person. We warmly invite you to book an online meeting or a personal tour — we would love to show you what life at Apple Tree feels like.

Please visit our Extra Classes page for up-to-date information. The list of available classes depends on family interest each term.

Starting from 3.5 years old, our groups go on regular field trips using a trusted bus service provider. These outings are always a highlight for the children!

Each day includes a balanced and nutritious menu:

  • Breakfast
  • Fruit or vegetable snack
  • Hot lunch (soup and main course)
  • Afternoon snack

We serve chicken, turkey and fish only (no pork or beef). We can also provide a vegetarian option upon request. We source our bread from a nearby private bakery offering healthy bread options, and our fruits and vegetables from the local market.

Settling-in & Wellbeing

We understand how important those first days are — both for children and parents. That’s why we have a gentle, step-by-step Settling-In Program to help every child feel safe, confident, and happy at Apple Tree.

It includes:

  • A personal Orientation Session for each new child and their parents before the first day.
  • A gradual introduction during the first few days, with a parent or caregiver staying with the child to help them adjust.

Our teachers work closely with parents to ensure each child’s transition is smooth and positive, adapting the process to individual needs.

Our catering partner can provide gluten-, dairy-, and/or egg-free meals upon request with a valid medical certificate.

Please note that, following Hungarian regulations, we do not serve any foods containing nuts.

Our staff is trained in first aid, and an Epipen is available on-site if ever needed.

If your child has specific allergies or dietary requirements, please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss details.

After Apple Tree

Apple Tree children thrive in a variety of school systems, including international and Hungarian-English bilingual systems as well.

If you have specific plans in mind, we’re happy to discuss them with you.
